Wakoopa, I guess most of the web inhabiting people in the world know about this remarkable piece of software. It tracks what software you use on your Windows or Mac (Linux seems to be in development) and it suggests software, that might be interesting to you.
Besides that, it shows nice graphics about the software you use. Great idea, isn’t it? I wouldn’t be the first to make the comparison with Last.FM, that does almost the same but with music you listen on your computer. But still, Wakoopa is (with it’s funky name) pretty original!
Originality, that’s the way to go on the web today. If your ideas aren’t original, your ideas will not matter in a world where fresh, new start-ups pop out of the earth all day long. The team behind the screens of Wakoopa jumps in the right time, in the right spot. You got to have talent for that!
At first, you need to come up with a idea, that has never been done before and has potential. I agree, that’s the hardest part of the story. But once you’ve got this far, you aren’t there yet. You have a long, long way to go for success. But it all comes with creativity, and some more creativity.
Once I see their line-up of new investors, it starts itching at certain places. Why are some people gifted with a great vision for creativity, while others can’t come up with great ideas? I guess that’s what makes people different from each other. One day, my creative, innovative and convenient application will conquer the world!

Everyone knows Paypal, the best known way to donate a small amount of money to someone. Donating via the internet is a way to show that you like what someone is writing about or doing something else that you would like to be rewarded. But with TipiT, this goes slightly different.
You don’t pay directly, but you can put tips in multiple tipjars before you pay them all. This means that you will give more authors a small amount, instead of one big tip. More happy users at TipiT will be the result and the creator hopes that this will result in even more tips and so on…
TipiT allows you to ask people to give you a tip for your work. If they like your work, they can give you a small tip. You can ask them to do this, via a button which I show in this post.
Tips vary from 20 cents, to 5 dollars/euros. Each and every user is free to decide what amount of money he or she would like to donate. TipiT is connected to Paypal, so your payments will be transferred safe and secure. But why would I use TipiT instead of Paypal?
TipiT is fast, uses the security of Paypal and it is very easy to use. For lots of people, the interface of Paypal is too complex. But with TipiT they can give their authors a nice tip due to the easy interface and information on the screens. If you like, you can tip me at TipiT too!

Today I came across the weblog of Jens Meiert. Jens is, as he calls himself, specialized in usable, high quality web design and development, and is working at Google Switzerland.
Besides that he is involved with W3C (HTML Working Group), UPA, and IxDA so that makes quiet a impressive resume! But that isn’t the part of Jens that I noticed almost instantly. After dropping a comment (#) on his blog, I noticed a page called; Quality Assurance: Bucks for Bugs.
And that’s where the fun starts! Anyone who is gifted with an eye for bugs, glitches and errors can earn easy cash at his website. This indicates the quality of the website and the author seems to be pretty sure of himself! But when we see this from a broader perspective, I see potential!
More people should do stuff like this, the web will be improved in a new, dynamic way! I know that there are some teams aiming to improve websites to look good in Opera, but there is much more potential for this! Jens, you’ve got a great idea, I hope more people will follow your example!

As many of you will know, I love to switch between blogs… But that isn’t always a positive thing. I have been thinking about what to do, to get my blogs in top fit shape.
And now, I’ve made my decision. From now on, this will be the place to follow me and my writings. After I made some ways around different blogging software, some providers and some experiments, it brings me back to my roots, at my own domain.
If you love reading what I write about, you’re free to follow my brand new RSS-feed. I had the possibility to redirect all my previous readers to this feed, but such a change is worth a brand new feed. This way I will give my readers the chance to support me further, by following this new blog.
Yes, this blog will be written in English. But that isn’t the only thing that has changed. The number of topics I will write about, will be slightly different. I cover some different topics, but will also focus on what I think about things that happen on the internet. Follow my new posts and you will see what CoenJacobs² will be about!
Cheers and thanks for supporting me now, and in the future! ![]()

Some ideas just amaze me with simplicity. Why isn’t this worked out any sooner? The same goes for TwitterCounter, a simple service to create a nice looking chicklet, which shows the current amount of followers on Twitter.
The image I posted here, is a sample. As you can see, there are 164 people following @coenjacobs right now. But there is also a list of the 100 most followed people on Twitter.
I am not that active on Twitter, so it will take me a while to get in the top 100 list, but from now on I’m showing the chicklet in the sidebar of this redesigned blog!
Yet again, I love the simplicity of TwitterCounter. It’s so easy to add yourself and place your chicklet online. Great stuff and thanks again for creating it Boris!

After beating Italy by 3-0 in the first match of this European Championship, tonight we have to do the very same thing to the French players. So far I’m enjoying this tournament, but Holland could make it just a little better by reaching the quarter finales already, with a match left to play!
Although it is Friday the 13th today, I’m confident that Holland will be the third team to get a spot in the quarter finals for sure. With Arjen Robben available again, the team is stronger than ever and ready to defeat ‘les Blues‘!
With Italy at 0 points, Romania at 1 point, France at 1 point and Holland at 3 points after the very first round in group C, Holland has the best chance to reach the quarter finals. Good luck tonight guys, make Holland proud!

At first, it scared the hell out of me. Joost de Valk, one of Hollands most promising SEO’s, changed the design of his blog. And when I say changed, I mean a complete rebuild. It took me some time to understand that it was Joost’s blog I was looking at.
Joost de Valk, from now on known as Yoast, has put together a really great looking theme for his blog. Besides his great WordPress plugins and tools, his SEO tools are one of the things you have to check out. But the best of all, is the quality content on his blog.
Yoast holds a great blog, but also a great set of articles. One is that good, that I want to name it here specifically. WordPress SEO is one hell of a article, that covers the Search Engine Optimisation for WordPress from a to z.
To get started on Yoast, please take some time to meet Yoast. If you’re interested in SEO, WordPress or blogging in general, Yoast is the place to be!

What is Coen doing lately?
A lot of questions are popping in my inbox, asking what I’m doing each and every day. Most people ask me, because I haven’t blogged in a while, on any of my blogs.
Well, to answer the question simple and straight forward, I am very busy completing my internship at PST Business Solutions. I am working on connecting the support tool and the administrative tool, with the new CRM system; vtiger. The employees no longer have to edit their data at multiple locations, which obviously saves time.
Besides implementing the new CRM system, I’m assisting the marketing people with some Google AdWords campaigns and from time to time I help them out with issues regarding their website (running Joomla). Great fun working with Darko and Karin.
But I shouldn’t be that busy if my internship was the only thing I’m working on. When I have a few spare hours, most of the time goes in developing my own CMS. Using PHP and MySQL, scripting object-oriented (OOP), it is educative and it makes a great CMS, for me to quickly deploy new websites, at the same time!
And off course, I have my (offline) social life. My girlfriend always comes at the very first place, the same goes for my family and friends. That’s what I’m doing lately!
